PureCircle Receives FDA GRAS “No Objection” for New Rebaudioside D Stevia Sweetener
July 9, 2013
PureCircle, the world’s largest stevia supplier and marketer is pleased to announce that the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a No Objection letter for the use of PureCircle’s Rebaudioside D (Reb D) as a general purpose sweetener for foods and beverages in the US. PureCircle research has identified high purity Reb D as having one of the best sweetness profiles of any steviol glycoside from the stevia leaf.
The clean sweetness of PureCircle’s high purity Reb D has garnered broad commercial interest from customers seeking to develop naturally sweetened formulations with very low to no calories, particularly in food and beverages with higher sweetness levels, such as carbonated soft drinks. Its commercialization will play an important role in extending the company’s breakthrough Stevia 3.0 innovation.
The GRAS confirmation of PureCircle’s Reb D builds on the company’s track record for bringing the latest stevia innovation to the market. With GRAS affirmation, PureCircle is prepared for immediate commercialization of Reb D. Jason Hecker, Vice President Global Marketing & Innovation, PureCircle, “We have invested over $300m in a supply chain infrastructure capable of delivering breakthrough ingredient innovation. We are proud to now work with our customers to turn this investment into breakthrough food and beverage solutions.”
